CloudNatix — Automating Cloud Infrastructure with Great Efficiency
CloudNatix's platform was designed from 0 to 1 over a 3.5-year engagement — a platform that automates cloud infrastructure across AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes, and on-prem systems, delivering up to 60% lower compute costs and a 5× productivity improvement for DevOps and AIOps teams.

One of the strengths that Ryan has is that he understands both the theory and the practice of the design. As a Head of Design at CloudNatix, he designed the entire UI/UX from scratch. One of the pieces he designed was a workload page that shows the complex concepts of Kubernete resources in a clear fashion, and it was very received by our customers. It was a great pleasure working with Ryan!

Overview
Over a 3.5-year engagement, the work contributed to CloudNatix's mission to optimize cloud infrastructure and make it more accessible by improving efficiency and scalability across multi-cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure), on-prem systems, Kubernetes clusters, and virtual machines (VMs). By automating operations, improving resource utilization, and reducing costs, the platform helped businesses streamline their infrastructure. This solution addressed the shortage of DevOps engineers, allowing teams to manage and scale infrastructure with less manual effort and specialized expertise.
Key focus areas
- Observe: evaluate infrastructure efficiency across cloud environments and Kubernetes.
- Understand: gather insights and recommend optimizations for performance and cost.
- Act: troubleshoot and optimize Kubernetes workloads.
- Automate: implement tools to automate cloud operations, reducing manual effort.
Design and UX Contributions
The product's design was led from concept to a fully realized solution, streamlining the process by bypassing wireframes and moving directly to high-fidelity mockups to accelerate time-to-market. This approach allowed for rapid iteration and quick validation of the product vision.
Key achievements
- Complete product design: led the design of the entire product from concept to final implementation (0 to 1), delivering polished UI screens swiftly to create a functional prototype and accelerate time to market.
- Design system implementation: designed a React-based design system that ensured consistency, improved collaboration, and reduced time-to-market by offering reusable components.
- Cross-region user research: conducted online research with U.S. and Japanese customers, gathering insights to ensure the design met the needs of diverse markets.
Design philosophy
- User-centered: design decisions were based on user insights, addressing real pain points.
- Collaboration: worked with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to craft intuitive interfaces.
- Scalability: designed for future growth, ensuring the system could scale with new features.
